Jishan Mohammed stands as a highly accomplished Certified Accountant, boasting a robust expertise encompassing accounting, finance, management, tax, and compliance. His deep understanding of the current financial and legal framework surrounding corporate taxes and VAT within the U.A.E has enabled him to address, resolve, and navigate complex tax requirements for several entities. Currently, Jishan serves as the Regional Head of Finance and Compliance at Global Advocacy and Legal Counsel. He also plays integral roles as a Partner at ZBS Accounting, Bookkeeping and Tax, and as the Managing Director of GIA.

Murtaza is Regional Managing Partner at Fragomen for the Middle East and Africa region. Fragomen is the global leader in immigration services and solutions. Murtaza has been based in the Middle East region for over 14 years and is responsible for Fragomen’s practices and network partners spanning across the Middle East and Africa region. In this capacity, he has extensive experience of working with large global and regional companies alongside representing the SME sector.

Murtaza has deep knowledge of regional business immigration, mobility and deployment issues. His experience includes working with companies in a variety of sectors offering strategic advisory, design and management of immigration programs tailored to the region’s requirements and best practices. Murtaza is a Fellow at the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales having worked in the Audit and Corporate Finance Advisory divisions at a Big Four Accounting firm.

Charles has lived in the UAE since 1986, both in Abu Dhabi and in Dubai.

Charles’s law firm, Afridi & Angell, was a founding member of AmCham Abu Dhabi, which formally organized in 1990 and was formally recognized by the Abu Dhabi government in 1996. Charles served as AmCham’s first chairman, and thereafter served on the Board of Directors for several years.

Charles is one of only 5 recipients of the Ambassador’s award, which Ambassador David Litt awarded to Charles in 1996 in recognition of his leadership role in support of American business interests and in the formation of AmCham Abu Dhabi. In addition, Charles has been a member of AmCham Dubai since its establishment in 1986. He has served on two occasions as its Vice President Legal Affairs and Secretary.

Charles is a partner in the law firm of Afridi & Angell, a Corporate Member and Corporate Founding member of AmCham. He holds a J.D. and an M.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, an M.A. from the University of London School of Oriental and African Studies, and a B.A. from Dartmouth.

In Thomas’s tax career spanning more than a decade, he has worked at tier 1 tax law firms in Brussels and Paris. Thomas moved to the Gulf in the beginning of 2017. He provides high quality and innovative tax advice to clients.

He has been involved in several high profile deals and has worked for blue chip and quoted companies and institutions in various sectors (financial sector, real estate sector, retail, manufacturing and the public sector).

In recent years he was heavily involved in European tax policy projects, as well as in projects with several European governments and governments in the Gulf region due to the pending introduction of VAT.

Thomas joined his former university, the renowned Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, in teaching an introductory course on tax law to master students. He also teaches VAT in the first Tax LL.M in the Gulf at Paris Sorbonne Abu Dhabi. He publishes regularly in international books and tax technical magazines and is a regular speaker at international events.

Thomas holds a law degree of the Catholic University of Leuven (cum laude) and a tax masters degree of Solvay Business School (magna cum laude). He is hands-on, proactive and combines an extensive technical skill set with a sound understanding of what makes businesses tick.
